Draymond Green compares 49ers QB Brock Purdy to Tom Brady

Continuing Hannah Storm’s and Andrea Kremer’s string of spirited Thursday Night Football hosts was Warriors forward Draymond Green, who, just like you, is in love with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

Purdy and the Niners clinched the NFC West with a 21-13 road win over the Seahawks on Thursday night. He threw for 217 yards, two touchdowns and completed 17 of 26 passes.

Storm asked Green how the Niners were playing this season in the face of their two portions of season-ending quarterback injuries, and what impressed him. The Warriors forward said he was impressed with Purdy and noted he was also the product of an opportunity after a teammate — David Lee in Green’s case — was hurt.

His praise of Purdy didn’t stop there, as Green went so far as to draw comparisons to arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, who is just four days away from Purdy exploding in his first career start.

“And to see what Brock Purdy is doing as Mr. Irrelevant, it’s so impressive,” Green said Thursday night. everybody thinks we’re looking at the next Tom Brady – you know, Tom Brady is a sixth round pick – are we looking at the next Tom Brady?’ We don’t quite know it yet, but seeing what this guy is up to is absolutely amazing.

Ignoring the fact that the quote is in the exact style of the lying LeBron meme, Purdy still has a long way to go before a Brady comparison can really be drawn, even if that’s just how the former Patriots quarterback won his first title. The regular season is still three weeks away in addition to the length of the Niners’ postseason road trip.

At the same time, receiving praise from a legend like Green is nothing. And Purdy started getting the star treatment Thursday night, with a leak to Adam Schefter about how tough he was to play.

“What makes Brock Purdy’s performance that much more impressive is that he was far from 100 percent with his ribs and oblique injuries,” Schefter tweeted after Thursday’s game. “A team executive wondered if Purdy would make it through tonight’s game. Another wrote, “He’s sick.” And he now he has 10 days off to recover ”.

Great, 10 more days for more fans to make those Brady comparisons.
