In addition to the month of cancellations just announced for Carnival viewCarnival Cruise Line has also canceled a month of sailings for Carnival dawnas well as several cruises canceled for Carnival miracle. One vessel will undergo dry dock, while the other will sail an alternative itinerary to its original schedule.
Carnival dawn at dry dock in February 2024
Carnival dawn an extended dry dock in early 2024 has now been scheduled and affected guests and travel advisors are being contacted regarding the canceled sailings, which include all travel from 1 February to 4 March 2024 inclusive.
Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald addressed the cancellations, including Carnival viewCruises cancelledon his Facebook page.
“Dry dock planning is done in advance but sometimes we have to change plans and therefore some of you have canceled sailings for 2024 on these two ships,” heald said.
During the dry dock period, Carnival dawn was supposed to sail 4-5 night itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami. Following maintenance and refreshments, the vessel will return to Miami and remain at her homeport of South Florida through at least the end of 2024.
No details on the dry dock plans have been released, but such a long timeframe points to some major work to be done on the ship. This is likely to include updates to public spaces as well as technical upgrades and other work to keep the ship in its prime.
Previously Triumph of the Carnivalthe ship was completely refurbished in Cadiz, Spain in the a massive $200 million transformation in 2019 become Carnival dawnbut has not had a significant dry-dock refresh since.
Carnival miracle Cruises cancelled
In addition to cruise cancellations for Carnival view And Carnival dawnthe Spiritual class Carnival miracle it also canceled the cruises, but for a different reason.
Carnival Cruise Line has rescheduled Carnival miracle for a 14-night “Carnival Trips” sailing trip to Hawaii, departing Sunday, January 21, 2024.
This means that the vessel’s previously scheduled cruises must be canceled to accommodate the new departure. The new Hawaii cruise will still depart from Carnival miraclethe port of departure, Long Beach, California.
The canceled sailings are from January 21, 2024 to January 30, 2024 inclusive, after which the ship will resume her previously planned itineraries to Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera, with another Carnival Journeys cruise in Hawaii departing February 17, 2024.
Carnival Journeys cruises are longer, more immersive itineraries visiting dream destinations. Onboard activities, including entertainment shows, quizzes and in-cabin movies, are often destination-themed, and special menu items will also be related to ports of call.
The new sailing to Hawaii, which includes visits to Maui, Honolulu, Kauai and Hilo in addition to Ensenada, Mexicoit is now for sale.
Compensation for affected guests
Guests affected by cancellations of any of the three ships have several compensation options. Though the now-canceled sailings are more than a year away, many travelers plan cruises well in advance and will now have to adjust their plans.
First, guests may choose to rebook a cruise comparable to the canceled cruise, either on the same ship at a later date or on a different ship. Cruise fare will be protected in similar accommodations and guests will also receive onboard credit to use on the new cruise if they rebook on or before Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
Guests should note that the rebooking price protection does not apply to charter cruises, vacation cruises, or cruises to Alaska, Europe, or Hawaii, even for cancellations Carnival miracle departures which, in fact, are about to be replaced with the new Hawaiian cruise.
If guests prefer not to rebook, they will receive a full refund, including all taxes, fees, and prepaid items such as shore tours, spa treatments, and beverage packages.
Refunds will be processed to the original form of payment, but may take up to three weeks to process, depending on individual guests’ banking policies.
