Cyber Monday sales have been triggered at Dell, HP, Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy. Many of these deals may look familiar to you, and that’s because many of Black Friday’s best deals have been carried over to Cyber Monday. In fact, some offers have dropped further in price! There are also some new offerings that we haven’t seen before. HP is a prime example of this. Not only do they have some new Cyber Monday-specific deals, but they’re offering bigger discounts on their Black Friday deals.
HP Cyber Monday gaming PC deals
These are the newly redesigned HP ENVY and OMEN models for 2022. With the exception of the very affordable HP Pavilion RTX 3060 gaming PC for under $1K, the rest of these configurations are once again equipped with the best 12th generation Intel Alder processors Lake. Some of these configurations are customizable; the upgrades we’ve picked put more emphasis on DIY components like the CPU and GPU, while leaving RAM and storage options fully available. That’s because it’s often a much cheaper route to finding the best deal on your RAM and SSD and then installing it yourself.

The 2022 OMEN 45L is HP’s flagship gaming PC. We’ve never seen any mainstream vendor come up with a more robust cooling system than what we’re seeing here. The 45L is a bulky chassis with three intake fans for excellent airflow. Even more impressive is the beefy 240mm liquid cooling system (upgradeable to 360mm for $80) mounted in its own compartment at the top of the case, dubbed the “Cryo Chamber.” This allows for cooling that rivals enthusiast DIY systems.

New for the 2022-2023 season, the Alienware Aurora R15 is Dell’s first PC ever to feature both the 13th Generation Intel Raptor Lake processor and RTX 40-series GPU. The Intel Core i9-13900KF boasts a clock speed boosted turbo of 5.8 GHz and as many as 24 cores and 32 threads. It’s significantly more powerful than the Alder Lake i9 and gives AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7950X a run for its money.
The RTX 4090 is by far the most powerful video card you can get right now. No other GPU, either from NVIDIA or AMD, comes close. For reference, the RTX 4090 is about 110% faster in 4K gaming than the already impressive RTX 3080. That’s about 60% faster than the previous king, the RTX 3090 Ti. This may very well be the single biggest performance upgrade within a single generation gap for the GeForce line of cards.
Should You Upgrade Your Gaming PC?
Of course the answer depends completely on your situation. However, in terms of technical advances, both the new CPUs and the new GPUs represent significant improvements over their predecessors this time around. Gaming PC deals for 2022 were much stronger than for 2021. That’s because this was the first Black Friday where RTX 30-series video cards aren’t marked above their MSRP. Since video cards are cheaper, pre-built gaming PCs equipped with these GPUs are also cheaper. Another benefit of picking up a gaming PC this year is that since video card supply is no longer an issue, you’ll be able to order a PC and expect to receive it in a very reasonable amount of time.
Gaming CPUs to consider
The Intel Core i7 Alder Lake CPU is Intel’s 12th generation processor and a pretty significant leap in power over any previous Intel chip. It’s definitely one of the best upgrades you could make to the Intel platform, especially considering most previous Core i7 revisions have been incremental. An even newer processor is now available, the 13th generation Raptor Lake, but it’s too new to see any good deals on this CPU, and the improvement over Alder Lake isn’t worth the premium.
On the AMD side, the Ryzen 7000 series processors are also a notable step up. However, these are the latest generation processors and will not go on sale as readily as the AMD 6000 and 5000 series CPUs. On that note, the AMD 6000 is just an incremental upgrade over the 5000 series and you should consider getting one or the other depending on what offerings are available.
Gaming GPUs to consider
RTX 30-series graphics cards are a huge improvement over RTX 20-series graphics cards. The RTX 3060 Ti, for example, a “mid-range” card, is just as powerful as the RTX 2080 SUPER, the “high-end” card ” of previous generations. If you have a video card older than that generation, this will probably be the best upgrade you can make. Obviously the RTX 40-series cards that just came out perform even better, but with the cheapest RTX 40-series cards starting at over $1000, the value proposition isn’t there.
AMD has decent video cards. The AMD Radeon RX 6850 XT is a bit slower than the RTX 3080 and the RX 6700 XT is a bit slower than the RTX 3070, but these cards lack DLSS and underperform raytracing. That said, gaming PCs equipped with these AMD cards could potentially cost several hundred dollars less than their NVIDIA equivalents. You shouldn’t count them if you’re taking to get the most bang for your buck.
