Overwatch 2 various rework and balance changes have substantially altered several characters from their original forms, and this change means that many mechanics that were once central to the original game no longer exist in the sequel. This came as part of a larger change to the game to remove or alter crowd control abilities like Cassidy’s Flashbang and Brigitte’s Shield Bash that make the game feel faster and more frenetic.

Changes include removing Mei’s original ability to freeze her enemies in place with her primary fire (although her max still has the freezing effect for those involved), which has been replaced by a of slowdown. If you were feeling nostalgic for one of the more frustrating mechanics Overwatch had in the past, Blizzard has launched a new mode for its return of the Winter Wonderland holiday event that focuses entirely on stopping players in their tracks. If you’re missing that part of her kit as main Mei, I understand. If you miss him as someone who was once getting his own endothermic blaster, I have to ask, “who hurt you?”

Deleting Freezethaw is part of Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2022 event, which runs until January 4th. Arcade mode is what Blizzard describes like freeze tag’s version of the shooter hero, where your team’s goal is to freeze all of your enemies by eliminating them, then they’re left to watch helplessly from their frozen prison until they’re thawed by a teammate. The new mode launches alongside the returning Winter Wonderland modes Mei’s Snowball Offensive and Mei’s Yeti Hunt, and really drives home that Mei and her icy disposition will, by default, always be the star of of Overwatch annual winter event. Unless she understands removed from the game, again.

As with all Overwatch events, the 2022 Winter Wonderland event includes themed cosmetics, such as a new Ice Queen skin for Brigitte and an Ice Angel skin for Echo along with smaller things like weapon charms and sprays. Some of these, including the Brigitte skin, are unlockable by playing Winter Wonderland modes and completing event challenges.

All of this is happening as a prelude to some Christmas-themed D.Va cosmetics that will be unlockable by watching Surveillance 2 Twitch streams from December 25th to January 4th. This includes a holiday victory pose, which has D.Va’s mech decked out in holiday lights, and the Sleighing skin, which has both the hero and her mech dressed up for the holidays. Here’s hoping these Twitch drops don’t fall prey to the same issues that previous events did, as some players were reporting that you have not unlocked the promised in-game cosmetics after watching Overwatch League streams last month.

Surveillance 2 it’s in the middle of its second season, he added Ramatra, a new tank hero who is the leader of Null Sector, one of the opposing forces in the game’s upcoming PvE mode launching next year. Ramattra is the second new unlockable hero in Surveillance 2 after Kiriko at launch, which was placed in the battle pass, much to the chagrin of longtime players who got heroes for free in the first game. After this pushback, Blizzard created Ramattra slightly easier to unlock on the free battle pass. Not much is happening as far as feedback on his yet battle pass monetization and grindthough.
