The McCullough brothers engage in Oklahoma

At times, the transfer portal and the current recruiting class can work together. Oklahoma just learned that in a very good way.

The Sooners picked up a pair of pledges this weekend, one from Portal and one for the class of 2023.

And from a family.

The McCullough brothers are on their way to Norman’s. South Bend (Ind.) St. Joseph’s Defensive Back Dae McCullough he switched his commitment from Cincinnati to the Sooners. His brother, former Indiana linebacker Dasan McCulloughwill also join him.

The McCullough brothers visited Norman over the weekend and manager Brent Venables and staff were able to seal the deal.

Daeh McCullough had been busy in Cincinnati since June, but OU entered the race with an offer five weeks ago. It wasn’t even just a token offer, as the Sooners really put on the pressure to try and initiate a flip.

Their job has been made easier with all the coaching changes that have occurred with the Bearcats, and OU coaches have made Daeh a top priority over the past week, having more coaches vet the four-star prospect.

Dasan is coming off a banner freshman season with the Hoosiers. He defended for 48 tackles, four sacks and three passes and lived up to his top-100 national billing ranking.

He logged into the portal last Sunday evening and it became very obvious very quickly that OU didn’t just want a McCullough guy, they were both on the list for the class of 2023.

Dasan has some versatility, but it’s very easy to look at his size, frame, and skills and know he looks like the future Cheetah linebacker for the Sooners.

Daeh becomes the 23rd member of OU’s Class of 2023, still firmly entrenched in the top 10 of the national rankings. He is the fifteenth prospect to be graded as four stars or above in Venables’ first comprehensive class.

Dasan is Portal’s third commitment to OU, joining former Notre Dame defensive lineman Jacob Lacey and former South Carolina tight end Austin Stogner.

Everyone knew the brothers would be in the spotlight at OU this weekend. Done and done, and now the OU can continue working to complete the 2023 class and enter more pieces from the portal in the days and weeks ahead.
